Magazine Article About Slash [Jul. 18th, 2004|10:58 pm]

I just read a rather interesting article in The Sunday Times about slash. As this is the first time I've actually seen slash mentioned in print (and its not exactly often that you find fanfic in general mentioned), I thought I would post it up here.

When Frodo Met Sam )

Interesting, I thought. And very positive, too.

Well, I filled out a comment to CBS, and hope that they pay notice to the fans of the show. It worked for Star Trek, after all. It might work, and its worth a try.

And if it doesn't work, and they do cast new actors, then I guess we'll get used to them.

I found a page of info on how to contact CBS, latest news, online petitions and the like, here: http://www.crimelab.nl/ excellent site in general, that is.

Hideously late on the news, here. Only when I check my emails do I discover that George Eads and Jorja Fox have got the sack from CBS. Bit gobsmacked really. It seems so sudden, I can understand CBS being pissed off that they wanted more money, thats understandable enough. But this 'did you post your letter' business seems downright weird. If Fox did post a letter saying she would turn up for work, and it got lost in the post or something, what will CBS do about having fired her? It sounds like a group of extremely tetchy executives jumping the gun, really. And why no official comment from anybody? I hope they get going on that one soon.

And hopefully, the reaction from fans might persuade them to reconsider their position - though I imagine that really would ignite a pay dispute, if the network realises the fans care that much for the characters.

In terms of storyline, I would have thought this was a very bad move. To suddenly have to replace two major cast members with new ones will strain the writers, not to mention causing problems for the remaining cast, who are going to have to work up the same level of relationship with new people. Talking of relationships...the intermittent Grissom/Sara storyline is rather popular, and they can hardly continue with it if they've sacked her. Wonder what they'll do. All in all, a bit of a breathtaker, this news. I would post the petition url, but I've already signed it and everyone and their dog have already posted it.

Fiat Justitia Ruat Coelum Chapter 3 [Jul. 17th, 2004|12:58 am]

Its finished! Yay! This is my first ever completed fic, so I am pleased with myself tonight. *Does a little dance* now at least maybe I can stop dreaming about the stupid thing, and think about something else for a change. Anyway, enough blather, here it is:

Fiat Justitia Ruat Coelum Chapter 3 )

*Wiping head theatrically* that took longer and was more difficult than I was expecting. Damn those plots.

Not quite finished the final part of Fiat Justitia yet, only got 800 words down as it happens. Yet that somehow took three hours to write...and I don't understand. I must have got lost in a daydream as I was writing it, or something like that anyway.
On a plus note, I got three reviews over at fanfiction.net, which makes me a very happy bunny indeed. Glad to know someone likes it, other than myself of course. At least this is going better than my other WIP fic - which has got wildly out of control. I got too interested in the plot, alas, and it takes ages to say that X went here to see Y - and you've got to say it, otherwise they'd have no information from which to solve the crimes. Never mind. I'm going to have the house to myself next week, so I shall work hard at that one then and hopefully get a little more of it done.
So, with luck this one will be finished tomorrow. There's not all that much more to write, only the climax (*cough, cough* bad choice of word) and then I'm done.

Fiat Justitia Chapter Two [Jul. 14th, 2004|09:45 pm]

Sheesh, well I finally managed to finish the second chapter of this. I reckon one more chapter should finish the thing, which is good. Now I just have to work on writing shorter things. Short is good. Funny would be better but I think maybe thats asking too much. Anyway, here it is.

Fiat Justitia Chapter Two )

Hope someone likes it, though it is considerably longer than I was planning on it being. Now I'm going to put it on FanFiction.net.

Fiat Justitia Ruat Coelum [Jul. 14th, 2004|01:42 am]

So, this is a piece of fanfic I wrote yesterday, and I am hoping to finish the second part of it tomorrow. It was originally meant to be a short piece, mainly because I think Brass is cute and is under-used, and so I thought I'd write something involving him. But it got away with me, and so this is only the first part.

The quotation from the Bible is from Amos 5:24. The Latin in the title means “Let justice be done, though heaven should fall”, and is attributed to Lucius Calpurnius Piso Caesonius. And yes, it was the inspiration for the title of this LJ, I thought it seemed like a good one.

Pairing: Brass/Sara. Eventually, anyway.
Rating: PG-13.
Summary: Another day, another corpse; the CSIs discover the murder of a mother and her child. Sara finds herself haunted by their difficulties in finding the killer, and in bringing him to justice.
Spoilers: Not that I know of. Set sometime or other before ‘Bloodlines’
Disclaimer: I don’t own CSI or any of the characters within it. You know the drill.

I'd appreciate comments and suggestions. This is the first time I've written a 'ship-only story if that makes sense. I have another WIP going, but that is plotline-driven rather than ship-driven, you see. Anyway, hoping to get this one finished soonish.

Well, this is the first entry to this, still figuring it all out. Not sure what I'm going to put on this, but surely more than just fanfic as I don't write very often. I keep finding it runs away with me - take the last one. I sit down to write a tiny little fic about Brass and Sara, and before I know where I am its got too long for one chapter and still no end in sight. I got involved in what was meant to be a bit of a boring excuse for a plot. *sigh*

Still, never mind, someone might like it still. Will post the first part of it shortly...
